Cory camp denies death rumor

The spokesperson of former President Corazon Aquino has denied reports the former leader has succumbed to colon cancer. “It’s not true,” said Deedee Siytangco, former President Corazon Aquino’s spokesperson in a telephone interview with Yahoo! Philippines when asked about the report. “If there’s anything to be announced, it would be them who will do so,” she said.
“The family appreciates the concern for the mother but if it does not come from any of the five kids and the grandsons or her nephew, she’s not yet (gone),” said Siytangco. However, the spokesman admitted Aquino’s condition has not improved with her continued loss of appetite.
She also said family’s mood has been quite gloomy. “They’ve been not very well,” she added. Siytangco reiterated that visitors were still not allowed at the Makati Medical Center, where Aquino has been confined. She has been battling with colon cancer since 2008 and has been confined since last month.
In a separate interview, Jiggy Cruz, Aquino’s grandson said that Aquino was getting pain relievers. “She’s stable yesterday. She’s getting pain relievers and she’s asleep now,” he said. Cruz, who was at the hospital at the time of interview, also clarified the former president was not on a life support system. However, he said the former leader could not talk well.
“She’s having a hard time to talk so it’s either a yes or a no for her,” said Cruz. “We’re all here. We’ve been praying the rosary together,” he added.
A text message claiming Aquino has succumbed to colon cancer circulated late Friday, prompting the British Embassy to send its condolences to the family. A staff member of Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, however, declared that she was still alive but in “critical condition.”
Aquino’s supporters had been tying yellow ribbons in Makati City and Manila to show their continued support for the ailing leader.
The British Embassy has issued an apology after it sent its condolences to the Aquino family.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton wished a speedy recovery for the former president.
Aquino, who has been diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer, was hospitalized for loss of appetite. She is the widow of assassinated opposition leader Benigno Aquino. The assassination sparked a “people power” revolt in 1986 that led to ouster of dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

im from japan,, i am update to the condition of former president corazon aquino. im a fan of ms kris aquino, and everytime shes on interviewed and shed from tears, my heart brokes. i know how it feels coz i felt the same when my father passed away. every wednesday i pray the novena,, i always include mrs corazon aquino in my prayers, i hope shell overcome and lessen the pain. shes a good person and shes a blessing to each and evry people she met, she touched so many peoples lives. they dont even know me but i would like to give my unconditional support for the family. god is good, we wish for the best for the family.
Cory remains our best leader having the moral ascendancy never shown by any other national leader; unselfish, courageous, God-fearing; yet unyielding to pressures. Cory deserves our prayers.

I know how it feels to have an ailimg mother, ‘coz i’ve been there in that agonizing moment of my life when my mum suffered what had taken FM’s young life. And they both had Dra. Ona as their physician at Medical City. What they need now are prayers and nothing more…still I do believe that miracle still do happen. She’s still here and that’s already a miracle. I feel so sad whenever I hear the news regarding our former president Corazon Aquino’s condition. Well I’ve been thinking of a way on how to express or share something for her that could help her fight her condition. But I am sure that the thing I am going to share to her that could help her a lot would not reach her knowledge. But in case I would be given a chance, I will very happy to share. And all researchers and doctors are free to criticize and may dig into it more deeper. Really I’ve been thinking of a way on how to reach her, via email, phone, friend or whatever but I just could not do it. I also hope and pray that she’ll get better very soon
for me, i dont know if its the right time for this, but im asking myself why do good people suffer ( Mrs Corazon Aquino) and wicked people reign (do i need to mention her?) Only God knows. My mom suffered the same sickness and I know how you feel. I’d been always there in the moment of my mom’s suffering till she went to the Lord’s glory. But the most important thing I’ve been sure of is that… God took my mom and she is comforted in His glorious HEaven. It is His glorious promise to those who trust in Him and believe to His promises. Madam Cory, trust Jesus and believe that He can give you everything… even His glorious eternal life He promised to those who trust in Him.(Jn.6:47) God bless!

Totoong maraming Filipinos ang nagmamahal at rumerespeto kay Tita Cory. Marami sa atin ang gustong sya ay gumaling. Ngunit naisip ba natin kung ano ang gusto nya? Marahil ay tanggap na nya na nalalapit na ang pagkikita nila ng kanyang yumaong asawa. Ang mensahe ko lang ay ito, Tita Cory, kung kailangan mo nang bumitiw, sige lang, wag mo kaming isipin. Ikaw ay naging pambihirang lider ng bansa at marami ang patuloy na magmamahal at rerespeto sa iyo.
My beloved brother who was just 39 yrs old suffered exactly the same sickness and I know pretty much how you feel. I’d been always there for him supported him in the moment of my brother’s suffering till he went to the Lord’s glory. before he died i told him that you don’t have to worry cuz God is always there for us and he know what is best for us, so tita cory be strong cuz i know God will take care of you and i know he will.
She’s truly a strong woman to bear the pain of her colon cancer and the pain of whats happening in our country. She was physically strong to voice out the illness of our government even in herself she was beginning to feel the pain of her cancer. Our prayers are for the former president Cory Aquino the true symbol of democracy. But I think we’re getting confused by the different statements coming from the Aquino family. Tita Cory’s grandchildren were saying that she’s getting better, but Kris Aquino on the other hand said that she don’t have the heart to say that her mom is ok. I have always held Tita Cory in the highest of regard. Her legacy has been cast in stone and will surely endure in the hearts of numerous Filipinos. I recall the energy of February 26 1986 the day after Marcos fled Malacanang, the excitement hearing of defections from the ranks, the pride and envy of seeing people massing and holding their ground at EDSA, the strength knowing that people like me were doing their part in helping to topple a dictatorship.
Growing up as I did under martial law and having borne witness to the cusp of history that was EDSA 1, I along with the MILLIONS of Filipinos who have lived thru the challenges of establishing a new Philippines post Marcos dictatorship will never lose faith in Filipinos. We have beaten the Marcos dictatorship and a military that propped it up, we will without a doubt correct any wrongdoings, bring justice to the oppressed and ensure that our democratic institutions remain untarnished and uncorrupted. WE WILL ENDURE. Thanks in a large part to the numerous Filipinos who have stepped forward and taken on the mantle of leadership during trying times but also to the MILLIONS of Filipinos who at the right time will come forward and shrug off the corrupt elements of government and society.
Thank you to Ninoy and Cory for their unwavering faith in the Filipinos. Thank you also to the Filipinos who, at the right moment , stood their ground for justice and freedom – egged on by then Cardinal Sin and Radyo Bandido and Mr. & Mrs. Special Edition.

I appreciate what you have done for our country. It is very unfortunate that things would come to a situation such as this. I will tell you straight. The religion you have known from birth cannot help you at all. What you need to do is to accept the sacrifice that Jesus has achieved for you at the cross. Receive it freely in your heart. You won’t probably recover because you might not be able to believe that Jesus has healed all diseases once and for all but you will certainly go to heaven if you receive Jesus as lord and savior. My dear President Tita Cory,
I was turning 11 years old then when People’s Power Revolution took place. At that very age I participated a lot of rallies, barracades and protest against the long over due dictatorship of Marcos. I shouted for Change and wave the placard i’m holding. I am with my parents then but I know what we were figthing for.
I am among the children in South Cotabato who marched tying yellow ribbons in our head and hands. We shouted for the restoration of democracy and justice for political killings.
I’m proud of Tita Cory since she took the Courage to lead the country and bring back the democracy that once abuse by those in power. For me Tita Cory is one of the Pillars of our Democracy and a good leader. She stands as a woman of courage and real service to our country.
My fellow countrymen, let must be thankful for President Cory Aquino, for without her conviction to bring back democracy maybe we are still in doomed dictatorship and in the perils of exploitation and injustice.
Let us join hand in hand praying for her healing and let the Holy Presence of our dear Lord Jesus will comfort her from pains.
Long Live the Woman leader who stood not only for the voice of the Filipinos but specifically stood for the voice of women and be recognized that we played a vital role in the leadership arena.

As a kid, I looked up to your husband and stayed on the street to fight for what he believed in for quite sometime. When you came to be the President, I worked with you in PMS because I believed and I will always will believe in you. You have been my inspiration to serve the people Ninoy believed worth dying for.
I know the pain you are having because I was also hospitalized recently. Sickness brought about by the weariness of the body serving the country and its people. But, do not give up yet, Ma’am. The country is not yet done. We still have to story the evils to be out. We still have to hope that 2010 will make the people we have been serving through the years to fight for themselves now.

Mrs Aquino is not only a great leader but also a very supportive and understanding mother. It was no surprise to read about the many people that you’ve touched and ispired. I was still a student at Berkeley in the late 1980s when you paid a visit and inspired thousands of students, mostly Filipinos, to come home and help rebuild the country.
However, I regret I didn’t take the opportunity express my gratitude to you in person on those rare occasions I would see you attend mass at the Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary parish many years ago. I heeded your call several years later and ended up reconnecting with my homeland after 15 years of absence. It was also during this time that I started my family.
I thank you for being my inspiration and I will continue to pray for you.

Though andito po ako sa gitnang silangan (riyadh, k.s.a.) labid po akong nalungkot at napaiyak and even until this time I am watching TFC di ko pa maiwasan ang umuiyak. Tita Cory, isa po ako before sa libo-libong tao na nag-ra-rally para mapaalis si Marcos sa Malacanang. From Laguna (were I worked) to Makati, di ko inaalintana ang hirap, pagod, gutom at tunay na ramdam ang aking pinaglalaban ko at pinalalaban nating lahat. Naging tunay na inspirasyon ko kayo kahit ngayon pa pagiging uliran at tunay na Katolico Romano at mabuting lider.
