Teoh Beng Hock’s death has stirred the anger of many Malaysians, and has forced the government’s hand into setting up a royal commission to investigate the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC)’s interrogation methods.

But strong public outrage has called for a probe into the circumstances of Teoh’s death, prompting a public inquest.

Attention shifts to underlying issues that will test the government’s system and policies, as well as test the new administration’s attempt to push for a ‘1Malaysia’ concept in a country where the majority of the 27 million-population are Malays but where there are big ethnic Chinese and Indian minorities.

The inquest will draw statements from 77 witnesses including 28 MACC personnel, journalists  –  as well as Teoh’s fiancée, Soh Cher Wei.

The probe into Teoh’s death also comes at a time when Prime Minister Najib Razak’s approval ratings soared after gaining stronger support from ethnic Chinese voters.

Ibrahim Suffian, head of pollster Independent Merdeka Centre which conducted the survey, was quoted in a Reuters report saying Teoh’s death has the potential to ‘drag down support levels of the government and Najib’.

The investigation has been adjourned to the 5th of August, and is expected to be completed in 15 days.

But do you believe any good will come out of this inquest?

I m of the opinion that at the end of the day, it would be found that probably the late Mr. Teoh was tired after the lenghty interrogation and had misstep and fall over. I do not think there was any malice involved. I symphatized with the family on their bereavement but lets not waste too much public funds over this incident and proceed with improvement of our lives. I m sure that was what the late Mr.Teoh would want too.

why a RCI needed in 1st place? police incapable of doing the job?
how many RCI have been set up and what are the outcome since independant, any statitics?
what happened to RCI on Linggam? no action?

RCI, police n MACC all are mere to close peoples eyes. nothing else. No Truth will come out. none is professional or afraid of truth or justice…all fake and drama.

Its a waste of time searching for answers because everyone has forgotten how to tell the true story since there are too many people making up stories.

one thing is clear, the whole system, its enforcement really stinks.
Greed has set in at all levels and there is no stopping in getting rid of the truth.

there is no trust in the system and above all, there is just so much of talking but no one has the guts to make the bold changes. why?

It’s hard to believe that the late Mr. Teoh was left on his own without being accompanied by any MACC personnel after being interrogated at length. It’s also hard to believe that due to extreme fatigue, he had a ‘mis-step’ which had caused him to fall to his untimely death. Is that window ledge at the MACC office low enough to allow an adult to easily trip over it? And now, it’s been reported that there are a trace of unidentified male DNA on the clothes of the deceased. Does it belong to the alleged perpetrator? Why can’t the DNA be identified? The plot thickens…

  • angie said:

i don’t think there will be any outcome ,eventhough the authority claimed that they found unidentified male DNA in Teoh’s clothes .The person may have just hug him ,touched him or anything ,how to proof that Teoh is being murdered by purpose ? There is no video cam .I even think that it is MACC intention to NOT to put video cam so that they can “do whatever they want ” to the witness or suspects .

people have lost faith in the government. So do i .

    Dear Zakaria Shamsuddin ,
If you think that he fell asleep from 14th floor, why there is no huge blood splash on the floor? Why the is only minor breaking bones in the leg? Will such injuries cause death? Why his stomach was swollen? Why there is no serious injured head damage and his skull is still “near round”?

Furthermore, if you are in his shoes will you sleep there in the first place? Although he is tired and if he sleep inside his car is still acceptable. Do you think people would believe such “moronic” reason?

    That is an absolute malice!

Anyway, I believe that the police investigation is just a formality procedure to prove that BN has done something as to address all the public need.

I have no trust in their system. Police or MACC is just an authorized “robber” !!!

  • Vivianne said:

personally, I feel that its a waste of time. Wouldn’t it be better that the Govt get the RCI to investigate the matter seriously? I’m sure that the public is curious to know the cause of Teoh’s death. At least it is fair to his loved ones also.

In the end, they’ll try to convince us he fell by himself, by accident or suicide.

If they try to pin the cause as murder, the so-called DNA found on him could possibly be planted, courtesy of the recent DNA bill.

I’m curious as to how they’re going to explain why:
    1) there’s no blood splatter on the ground if the cause of death is the fall itself, and
    2) if he was indeed released much earlier before his body was found, how was it his phone was in the possession of the police and MACC all this while? Wouldn’t it be smashed along with his body if he fell after his release?
    3) No calls made to his loved ones upon his release during such a god-forsaken hour?

Too many holes for them to plug up. Why do you think they don’t dare to have a ROYAL inquiry on his actual cause of death?

If they use an equal-weight-object to drop from 14th floor, & calculate back his weight before dead & use such weight object to drop from 14th floor, the distance can predict whether Teoh was died before that. They can also get weather/ wind directions from weather authority too. DNA is not the only thing.Watched it from Singapore Crime Watch.

but, making so many news is just to stop public outrage. Time will dilute everything. This is what their normal strategies. At the end, no one is at fault, no one is being caught,no one is responsible. We have seen all kinds of cases ended like these, from the stupid Highway Contract to murder case now. But let us not lose sight that the late Mr. Teoh Beng Hock’s right to a future life as a husband & father has been suddenly robbed away from him. Of course, many people will express anger & outrage. The only people who would not respond in the same manner are either the alleged perpetrators or those who believe that the late Mr. Teoh Beng Hock had actually done something so wrong that he deserves this kind of fate. Just to please the family of the late Teoh and those asking for a RCI, the PM Najib, is trying to prove the BN Govt listens to the people by setting up the RCI and an inquest.
What we need to investigate now is: Why he fell? How he fell down?
Were there anybody involved from the MACC for the fall?

I believe and have faith in my country’s system and am perfectly feeling free in this country for more then half a centuary. The system happened to be so good that in my state those who had fought against the government in the 60’s were brought back to society and given new life and some are rich.

You Umno cybertroopers have a long way to go before you can convince anybody lah.

But I don’t blame you for failing. It’s far harder to justify lies and cover-ups, than it is to just tell the simple truth.

    Bertaubat lah.

Wont it sound better like this late Mr. Teoh was tired after the lenghty interrogation and one of the officer told him that, there was a Shopping Mall around the corner open 24/7.Have a look 1st before you went home.

Come on man if you have been interrogation for a long period of time the 1st thing you go for was the lift and when straight home cause you know you are going for Registration Office later to get married…
Dont tell me you are going to the window and look down in the midnight street searching for your CAR…..

Why should MACC disposed a dead body in their building? Isn’t it stupid as so many questions can be raised? People will always look at the obvious first. If they do that, they will definitely hang their department by the rope.
For all I know, this Teoh guy probably walked in his sleep. Maybe he had this great urge to take a leak that night. Instead of opening the bathroom door, he opened up a window and jumped right out.
Why waste public fund on such inquiries? If you know so much on the cause of death, why don’t you just say it out loud.

Lokman Ali as you know US got FBI and we got FBA then follow by CSI unfortunaly TV havent show MACC in series..so that’s why CCTV in MACC not show how late MR Teoh be that time…bang Lokman…cun cun that time either CCTV breakdown or the whole building black-out….as you know this building is free to walk around without any-Pass or code…

Royal commision set was mere distraction.
There is no level playing field or truth in Malaysia.
Everything is heresay including police investigations.
Malaysian police investigation is a joke. In fact another commission has to be set up to investigate the police investigations.
Here is a suggestion. GET RID OF CORRUPTION. That means 70% of politicians and 50% of the police force will be out of a job.
MACC has too much power and there are no checks and balances associated with that agency. The power has gone to their heads.

if he can’t take the pressure and commit suicide, should we care?why must the government spent money to investigate. I don’t think there was a foul play. He was involves in the scandal and knew that his career is in jeopardy. Either he resigned or kill him self to get out of the problem. I think all the top politicians whom commit those scandals before shall resign but not necessarily to kill them selves. but in Malaysia too many thick skin politicians. Look at Samy vellu, mohd taib, rahim tambhy chik and so many others. Personally I salute the late Teoh on his dignity, though committing suicide is not the answer.

Guys, do you know that Teoh’s death was due to investigation on misused of state exco fund of RM2,400? It is just an investigation and the late Teoh was a witness and not a suspect.

Because of RM2,400, this young man has perished. To me, the MACC Chief, The MACC Director of Investigation, and as well the Minister incharge of MACC should resign for this over-zealous action done by their people. Even better, review the MACC reporting structure. Get them report direct to the Yang Dipertuan Agong or Majlis Raja-Raja(Rulers Conference).

It is high-time now that Malaysia’s Rulers play their part as it seems that the BN Government is becoming a dictator and apartheid government.

It’s a common trend in this country that someone or something must succumb first before it gets the right attention. History points to Highland Towers, Bkt Antarabangsa, Altantuya, etc…the list goes on and reminds us of the famous quote once made by Tun M”…Malaysians will forget in 100days…” and that sadly, reflects on all of us!Riding on this, I fear that the time taken to set up the Royal Commission, investigations leading to a conclusive report will surpass the 100day mark. No matter what is done and steps taken, there will always be the biggest doubt in people’s minds and that is about transparency.

  • kuruvee said:

I agree 100% with every comment. But nevertheless as this will make a good prime time serial as all our representatives up there are excellent actors.

Honestly, did you bother to read my full message / post? I did not say that I support DAP, PR, or who whatsoever. I said that I HATE all these hypocrites that only bother to do something when they want the votes and later on disappear off with big houses, fancy cars and so on. There might be a few good ones, but honestly, how many good ones do you see there? I have yet to find one, from ANY of the parties that I see in Malaysia, most of them are just hypocrites that decided to support justice one day and take bribes the next day.

I only wish that all these people who say that they want to bring up Malaysia, would actually do it instead of bickering over each others’ faults. I know it is easier to say than to actually do it but sigh, there should be a clear boundary over the evil that we do. If Beng Hock really fell down on his own, why not do the probe into what happened? There should be nothing to hide at all. If someone actually have something to do with his death, it is again as I said, either it is hell now or hell later. Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim (in alphabetical order), all believe in God(s). All believe that we will get our judgment later – why burden yourself with such sins? I sure as hell that I do not want to rot in hell. If you are a free thinker then, honestly, I can’t say much – I just know that I fear hell and I don’t hope to burn there forever.

Truly wish Malaysia the best, I will be retiring there one day and I hope, at that time, we will at the bare minimum – respect each other in regardless of race, religion, and status.

Beng Hock is a victim of circunstances and somebody close to him in Selangor system know what has happened, but pretend not to know.By the incident all eyes and mind to Beng Hock and the real issues already forgotten and that is what the culprit wants. Hence he or she is the one responsibble for Beng Hock’s death.

The system are good and the guys handling the system must be good, keep up the good work for those who does it.

Even his boss the politician aka stupid money thief can come to this building at 12 o’clock mid nite so worried damn wat this guy had told MACC ha? im so dead. how to cover up? just pay some clever thug sneak here kill him instantly, coz CCTV oso not good here :) n then this stupid MACC gonna get d blame :)

Even ada duit, cannot drive big cars coz banyak sangat warga asing yang memerhatikan untuk jadi kan mangsa ragut lah, rompak lah, bunuh lah. Young children, young girls, makcik makcik, cik kak, cik kak also felt unsafe to jalan jalan alone even just wearing tiny piece of jewellery. Wait kena chop..mampus!.

Ok middle class ppl doesnt sound good, lets move to higher class ppl..hehh. Ahhh here is where…DONT SPEND OR SHOW OFF YOUR PROPERTY out loud..coz u might kena ambush for nothing..the whole world get to know from where u got ur $$? where & how u spend it? what ur business? how much your salary? how many houses? ada simpanan or not? (either money or perempuan lah)…etc..then next you know, its all in the paper for these robberies to targett your properties & children (for kidnap lah) ,kwang kwang kwang kwang….
